Vomiting occurs alongside nausea, and for some individuals, vomiting may temporarily relieve feelings of discomfort.
The good news is that for most patients, this side effect tends to improve as the body adjusts to the medication over time.
Steps to help manage vomiting
-
Stay hydrated
- Take small sips of water or oral rehydration fluids every 5 minutes
- Gradually increase the amount you drink once vomiting subsides
-
When you feel ready to eat
- Start with simple, low-fat foods such as crackers, dry toast, and plain rice
- Choose foods with a high water content, such as soups or gelatin
-
Stay upright after eating
- Avoid lying down immediately after meals to support digestion and reduce nausea
When to seek additional support
If vomiting persists or prevents you from keeping fluids down, please submit a request or visit your nearest Accident and Emergency (A&E) department, depending on when you last managed to keep fluids down. The longer it has been, the more likely you should visit A&E.
