When to contact your prescriber vs. When to seek emergency care

When to contact your prescriber

Contact your Compound prescriber for:

  • Persistent mild to moderate side effects that are bothersome but not severe
  • Questions about your medication dosage
  • Changes in your medical history or medications
  • Concerns about your progress or weight loss plateaus
  • Problems with your injection technique
  • Mild allergic reactions (slight rash or itching)
  • Issues with your order or prescription

How to reach out: Submit a request, and our Care Team will connect you with your prescriber.

When to seek emergency care (Call 999 or visit A&E)

Seek immediate medical attention for:

  • Severe abdominal pain that is persistent or worsening
  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Loss of consciousness or severe dizziness
  • Signs of severe allergic reaction (swelling of face/throat, severe rash, difficulty breathing)
  • Severe vomiting that won't stop or contains blood
  • Symptoms of pancreatitis (severe abdominal pain radiating to your back, persistent vomiting, fever)
  • Symptoms of diabetic ketoacidosis (confusion, fruity breath odour, excessive thirst)
  • Any symptom that feels life-threatening

What to do: Call 999 or go to your nearest Accident & Emergency Department as soon as you can. Inform emergency staff that you are taking Wegovy or Mounjaro.

For urgent but non-emergency issues (Call 111)

Contact NHS 111 for:

  • Moderate side effects that are worsening
  • Unusual symptoms you're unsure about
  • Medical advice needed same-day but not immediately life-threatening
  • Concerns outside of Compound's operating hours

Remember: When in doubt about the severity of a symptom, it's always better to be cautious and seek emergency care.
