Travelling with your medication

Before your trip

Planning ahead:

  • Check if you'll need a new dose during your trip
  • Request an early delivery if needed
  • Request a travel letter from Compound for airport security (especially important for international travel)

Documentation to pack:

  • Travel letter from Compound (request at least one week before travel)
  • Copy of your prescription
  • Compound contact information

Storing medication during travel

Short trips (Less than 48 hours):

  • Transport in original packaging in an insulated bag with ice packs
  • Keep away from direct sunlight or extreme temperatures

Longer trips:

  • Research refrigeration options at your destination
  • Consider portable medication coolers for extended travel
  • If staying at a hotel, call ahead to request a mini-fridge

Air travel:

  • Always carry medication in hand luggage, never checked baggage
  • Inform security that you're carrying prescription medication
  • Keep your travel letter easily accessible
  • Insulated medication travel cases are TSA-approved

Time zone changes

  • For trips crossing multiple time zones, generally maintain the same day gap between doses
  • If your trip is longer than 2 weeks, gradually adjust to a convenient day in the new time zone

Country-specific considerations

  • Some countries have strict regulations about importing medications
  • Research requirements for your destination before travel
  • Countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, India, and Pakistan may require additional documentation

If your travel plans require adjusting your medication schedule, please submit a request at least two weeks prior to departure, and our team will provide personalised guidance.
